Well, my infamous Depeche Mode luck happened again! I had a ticket to their August 22 show here in Las Vegas, and my friend and I had gotten separate seats, he was just a few rows up from me, we were way in the back, up towards the rafters. Now, I was just glad that I had gotten any ticket at all, since they were all almost basically sold out in two minutes! The pre-sale had really eaten them all up. And since the Las Vegas show was one of the smallest venues of the tour, it was hard to get tickets. But anyway, so I was sitting there by myself with an empty seat next to me, my friend was sitting next to me keeping me company until somebody came to get their seat and we were explaining that he was just sitting there with me until the seat holder arrived. Which she did at that point, and when she had started to sit down next to me her friend said something remarkable to me. Out of the blue, this second lady says to me "I've been looking for somebody to trade seats with me in ... GA." I'm like why.. she began to explain that this was her fifth or sixth show this week, that she had seen Depeche Mode maybe five times that week alone, if that's possible.. did they play that much in one week..? But she said something like that.. it might have been five concerts altogether but she also said she drove from California after working graveyard all night and that she was tired and didn't feel like standing up there the whole time.. okay.. legitimate reasons, I guess I still couldn't believe it that's all.. I was kinda skeptical, I was even wondering if that could be done and might I have lost both seats..? But sure enough we went downstairs, the ticket lady took the wristband off of the other woman's hand and put one on mine - we traded tickets and eagerly walked into the general admission area on the floor...! I secured a pretty good place about 15-20 feet from the stage and excitedly waited for the show to begin.. it actually happened! Well thanks Carmen! That was her name.. and after wards, we met briefly to trade tickets again since she wanted the souvenir of the ticket, understandable. And I thanked her and I think I got a new friend.. she is really into all new wave music and told me about a New Wave group that meets every so often. So, there ya go..!
There was one other time a few years ago where Depeche Mode played in the Joint and I got into that show by a miracle as well! So, I think the Universe knows how much I love Depeche Mode and accommodated me.. long live Depeche Mode! David Gahan is the best front man alive and performing currently right now.
And another thing, he seemed to be not only channeling other favorite artists of mine, such as David Bowie, but also believe it or not, Klaus Nomi! Yeah, unbelievable.. Dave did this thing at one point during one of his songs, it's in a youtube video, I will have to find it and post it somehow, where like from the 1970's video Starman by David Bowie, he was pointing towards someone in the audience and then whirled his finger around as if to emphasize, that's one of my favorite gestures from Bowie.. ("I had to phone someone and I called on you, you, you - from the Starman video). And, amazingly enough, as if the night couldn't be any better, besides his stellar androgynous dancing, which I also love, Dave did this thing with his eyes, where he opened them up further in a dramatic sort of way, like Klaus used to do, as in After the Fall for example, wow.. the Universe really knows what I like.. and I know I have really been concentrating on all this stuff lately, so of course it manifested itself.. it's part of the "Law of Manifestation' that might not be what it's officially called, but it is a 'Law of the Universe.' Besides all these fateful events, the whole concert really felt like a religious experience, it really did. Dave's singing and dancing, the band's playing, and the amazingly creative and unique and meaningful multi-media graphics that really went with the music in a surreal kinda of way all contributed to this religious feeling. I just felt like we were all part of something really significant.. and we were..
That's what I think of as true 'art' - anything that really expressed the meaning of life and truth.
